Egypt is two tours in one. There is the pharaonic Egypt everyone pictures, Giza, the Sphinx, the Valley of the Kings, and there is Islamic Cairo, which most itineraries skip almost entirely. We do both properly.
The middle of the trip is spent on the river. Three nights on a five-star Nile cruise from Aswan down to Luxor, stopping at Kom Ombo and Edfu, is the most restful way to see Upper Egypt and by some distance the most pleasant.
In Old Cairo we visit the Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque, the first mosque built anywhere in Africa, founded in 641 CE. The Grand Egyptian Museum and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, including the Royal Mummies Hall, complete the picture.
Arrival at Cairo International Airport, where you will be met and assisted by our representative. Transfer to your hotel and check in.
After breakfast, a full day guided tour of the Giza Plateau, the pyramids and the Sphinx, then the Grand Egyptian Museum, home to King Tut and treasures from the pyramids and more at Giza.
Breakfast at the hotel, followed by transfer to Cairo Airport for your flight to Aswan. Upon arrival, visit the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple. Transfer to the Nile Cruise for embarkation.
Early in the morning there is the possibility to join an optional excursion to Abu Simbel. Return to the cruise in Aswan and begin sailing towards Kom Ombo, unique for its twin temple dedicated to Sobek and Haroeris. Visit the temple of Kom Ombo before continuing the cruise to Edfu.
Breakfast onboard. Visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu, then cruise on to Luxor, enjoying the view of the banks of the Nile.
After breakfast, check out from the Nile Cruise and visit the Karnak Temple Complex and Luxor Temple on the East Bank. After the tour, transfer to your hotel in Luxor.
After breakfast and check-out, a guided tour of the Valley of the Kings including the tomb of Tutankhamun, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Afterwards, transfer to Luxor domestic airport for the flight to Cairo and check in to your hotel.
After breakfast, a guided tour of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization including the Royal Mummies Hall. Continue to Old Cairo to visit the Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque, the first mosque built in Africa, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue. Afterwards, drive to the Khan El Khalili bazaar to explore the crafts and shops of Islamic Cairo.
Early morning transfer to Cairo International Airport for your departure flight.
